An important distinction, Ian.

One perspective I've found helpful is to understand that everyone individually and collectively needs to balance "thinking/planning" and "doing" kinds of work; they just do in different proportions the higher up you go in an organization.

The other thought is that Blue Work also provides value.

A great analogy is a train needs to speed along a track, but sometimes you need to pause & adjust where the track is going.
